Blue & Orange

We recently designed an inspiration board for our friend Heather’s baby nursery. She loves the Beatles and wanted to incorporate a little bit of Rock and Roll in her new bambino’s room. So we started off with this inspiration piece, The Beatles ’65 album cover and brought in the soft greys and chocolates with punches of tangerine and baby blue for a retro rocker feel. The area rug is an adorable hopscotch pattern from CB2 The hanging nightlight is actuality a bird feeder from CB2. Just pop in some battery operated nightlights and you have a very cool light fixture. The triangle in a square pillows are from  Deseta
and the mommy to be found this adorable mobile at Pink Perch on Etsy. She is going to be customizing it to fit the Beatles theme. That’s why we love Etsy, there are so many artisans willing to customize anything for you. She is also going to be  adding a whimsical quote by using a custom designed vinyl decal from Single Stone Studios.  Shelley at SSS is uber talented and we love her creative edge. Check out her design blog to see more of her work. With a few more functional accessories to brighten up the space like the abacus and chic orange diaper carry all this baby is going to be rockin!

Speaking of tangerines and the baby blue sky, we wanted to share some of our favorite blue and orange room designs we found from fellow bloggers.
I love the room above. It very a modern boutique look. Gorgeous neutral white backdrop with pops of turqoise and tangerine.

We are loving the beautiful colors trending for summer 2010. Karl Lagerfeld’s collection for Chanel is absolutely stunning. A throw back to classic vintage with a fresh color palette, Very luxurious yet casual and even a touch of Boho. Chanel’s summer polish collection had the perfect shades of happiness. A sweet bohemian head wrap in a Hermes scarf is wonderful accessory to keep the locks while spinning on a Ferris Wheel. I just love Zee Longenecker Fine Art Collection. She has a great eye and captures joy though the lens. You can purchase her prints on Etsy

Is Turquoise the Hot Hue of the Cool Blues?

In a home fashion article on iVillage.com for 2010 color trend predictions, turquoise was rated the hot new color for home decor, paint and accents. This vivacious color has multiple shades that compliment warm as well as cool colors. What a great way to change up your decor a bit and add some turquoise accessories, funky throw pillows, or paint on an accent wall.

Along with this hot hue of blue, it is said that blue in general is making a huge comeback. So, don’t throw away that blue danube china your grandmother gave you! From home to fashion; cloudy slates to bold colbalts are making a statement. Not to mention navy is the more serious side of black.
