We recently designed an inspiration board for our friend Heather’s baby nursery. She loves the Beatles and wanted to incorporate a little bit of Rock and Roll in her new bambino’s room. So we started off with this inspiration piece, The Beatles ’65 album cover and brought in the soft greys and chocolates with punches of tangerine and baby blue for a retro rocker feel. The area rug is an adorable hopscotch pattern from CB2 The hanging nightlight is actuality a bird feeder from CB2. Just pop in some battery operated nightlights and you have a very cool light fixture. The triangle in a square pillows are from Deseta
and the mommy to be found this adorable mobile at Pink Perch on Etsy. She is going to be customizing it to fit the Beatles theme. That’s why we love Etsy, there are so many artisans willing to customize anything for you. She is also going to be adding a whimsical quote by using a custom designed vinyl decal from Single Stone Studios. Shelley at SSS is uber talented and we love her creative edge. Check out her design blog to see more of her work. With a few more functional accessories to brighten up the space like the abacus and chic orange diaper carry all this baby is going to be rockin!
Speaking of tangerines and the baby blue sky, we wanted to share some of our favorite blue and orange room designs we found from fellow bloggers.
I love the room above. It very a modern boutique look. Gorgeous neutral white backdrop with pops of turqoise and tangerine.
This room is another beautiful balance of bold colors
So yesterday was officially the first day of summer, although I must say here in Florida it’s been feeling like summer for awhile now. We recently blogged on Summer Blues but now since it’s official, it’s time for some sunshine! I always love accents of a bold color in a room. It adds an element of surprise. But you want to make sure when adding the pops of color that there is a method to the madness. Make sure your backdrop is balanced in proportion, texture and color variation. Don’t hesitate to use bold patterns but make sure they compliment each other.
Here are just few snippets of some of my favorite cheerful interiors that have a sophisticated elegance with bright accents of yellow. See how the yellow dances off of the cool grays and makes a beautiful contrast with the classic look of black and white. Whatever you choose to pair it with, just a little bit of this vibrant hue goes a long way.
